We also strive to keep our products affordable, so we’re constantly evaluating our products and the ingredients used in creating them in order to deliver the best value to our customers. It’s for these reasons that we reformulate our products from time-to-time, resulting in a need for new nutrition labels, and thus, new packaging designs. When these packaging changes occur, we update the information on our website right away, even though there is still some of the older product that may be circulating at your local Cocowhip retailer. Cocowhip obtains its cultures (probiotic count) from a specialised fermentation process. The Fermentation process transforms the coconut by a process of pre-digestion, which breaks down nutrients into the simpler forms. This supports digestion, promotes healthy flora in our digestive tract, produces beneficial enzymes and helps us to absorb nutrients more efficiently from our food. A healthy digestion is fundamental in supporting our overall health and particularly our immune system. Fermented coconut has been found to support the immune and antioxidant systems.
Xylitol is a naturally occurring carbohydrate, that looks and tastes just like regular table sugar without the unwanted calories and negative health effect. It is a natural sweetener that is extracted from any woody fibrous plant material. At high consumption rates Xylitol has been shown to have a laxative effect. There are very low levels of Xylitol found in Cocowhip allowing you to consume the product without any effects. We often get asked why we don’t use Stevia. The reason for this is we found Xylitol was much better natural sweetening choice for Cocowhip. We tried stevia as part of the sweetener system, but its aftertaste was too strong. Also, the Xylitol is not just there for the purpose of sweetening. Ice cream products tend to have an undesirable icy “mouth feel” if they don't have enough solid ingredients. Without the sugar, it needs some form of solids to smooth out the texture so it doesn't eat like a slushy. Xylitol helps fill that void.
